Description
George Kazazis' paintings display a concern for pattern, decoration and design. His fusion of abstraction and figuration and his flat, graphic, seemingly impersonal and highly polished style draws on a variety of sources from popular culture such as magazines and advertising. Kazazis thus alludes to the seductive nature of media generated imagery while at the same time he negates any ideas of 'personal' expression and painterly 'gesture'.
