WE33(ΕΜΕΙΣ33) interview by ITSLIQUID platform 2020

- What is art for you?
Art is the expression of truth. It’s a great journey and a way of living one’s life well, truthfully and being in contact with one’s emotions, needs and inner necessity.

 - What are you currently working on?
We are currently working on our participation for the Platforms Project 2021, as well as a couple of other festivals in Greece and abroad.

 - What is your creative process like?
We are a group of multiple artists varying from 30 to 70 in number. We usually start by suggesting ideas that interest/intrigue us to work on them. We have extended discussions about them. We work on them, proposing ways of bringing them to life, talking about the materials we’re going to use, the general formation/form of the project, the difficulties /challenges we’re going to face in order to see it through. After we agree on the project, each artist works on his/her own to make their artwork. During this process we meet quite often, exchanging ideas, talking about our difficulties and showing to one another our works in progress. Finally, a few artists from the group collect all of the artworks and create the final synthesis of the project. This is a very creative and unifying process for us all, as it strengthens our bonds and keeps us close to one another. Most of all, it’s a way of sharing, being and staying together and in touch.

 - Are your artworks focused on a specific theme?
Our artworks are mainly focused on issues of human identity and biopolitics. We usually create large scale installations comprising of smaller pieces, one for each artist. This way the artists have the freedom to work choosing/adjusting their means, materials and textures to the theme.

This project was our first artwork focusing on/experimenting with new media only, excluding techniques/disciplines such as painting, sculpture, engraving, etc.

 - How is being an artist nowadays?
Being an artist nowadays is quite challenging. Funding in Greece is insufficient /inadequate or even non-existent and many artists teach or keep different kinds of jobs in order to support themselves.

- What do you think about the concept of this festival? In which way did it inspire you?

We think that the most motivating thing of all is the fact that despite Northern Italy having been struck so harshly by the pandemic, you people are trying to overcome this crisis and choose to fight for a world full of arts. This shows your commitment towards arts and sends an inspiring message that we want to support. We believe that our current project, having been made in the middle of the pandemic as well and in a neighbour/near by country, Greece, would interact greatly with your striving efforts. Apart from that, issues of identity and architectural space and have always been in the center of our work.

- We were attracted by your last artistic production, has the artwork presented been created for the festival or as a part of preexisting works?
It was part of the Platforms Project Net 2020 that took place on May 14-31. There is an online link of this project, for anyone interested in watching our video: Each artist took a photo within an urban environment suggesting human behaviours and accumulations, then there was the final editing of the video.

- What do you think about ITSLIQUID Platform?
It’s a very active Platform that gives emphasis to hosting group exhibitions that bring artists from different artistic grounds to come together. It’s truly a ceaseless/unstoppable connecting and tireless platform full of opportunities for artists all around the world.

- What do you think about the organization of our event?
It was a very well organized event and we were very glad to take part in it. There was an excellent collaboration/co-operation and communication.

- Would you suggest a collaboration with us?
We are always open to new collaborations, project ideas and proposals and we love to meet artists from all around the world and form artistic alliences/liaisons.

What do you think about our services?
There was an immediate response by ITSLIQUID to all of our questions, inquiries and needs that made our communication very easy and natural.
